Nursery & Garden Industry NSW & ACT Limited

Students

The nursery industry is always looking for energetic, enthusiastic people in search of a rewarding career.

There are many ways to get into the industry, however most nurseries look for staff who are trained in a nursery or hold a recognised qualification in horticulture.

The normal path into the industry is via an apprenticeship.  The nursery business will provide you with day-to-day training on the job as well as regular tuition from a TAFE institute.  The ways to get into the industry don't stop there.

TAFE's and universities offer a range of training options, such as a Certificate II, III or IV in horticulture.  Higher education qualifications such as a degree, diploma, advanced diploma and even post-graduate qualifications in horticulture are also available.

To find out more about the careers on offer, ask your career counsellors at your school about the many opportunities available and how to get into the industry.  Visit your local nursery to speak with someone already making a living in horticulture or check some of the useful links listed below.
