Northern River's Plant Expo's continue to grow...

By Tracey Knowland, Chair Northern Rivers Regional Group; Bangalow Wholesale Nursery
Held twice yearly, in Autumn and Spring, the Expo's are key to the vitality of the nursery industry in the region. Whilst spring is the big one in terms of buyer interest, the Autumn Expo, which falls during what is still '˜abundant growth season' in the subtropics, is recommended for the broad range and lushness of plants. As well as northern rivers growers, nurseries from The Tweed and south east QLD through to the Sunshine Coast are well represented.
Many businesses benefit from the flow-on effect of these events - from local accommodation and food venues, airlines and car hire - but, more importantly, retailers are able to source a cornucopia of quality plants locally. Growers in the region (even those who have never held an Expo stall) benefit from an influx of buyers, both local and from further afield - in Queensland, NSW and Melbourne - many of whom take the opportunity to visit other nurseries while in the region.
Northern Rivers Autumn Expo takes place over March 9 and 10 with March 9
- March 9 - Expo Welcome Dinner 'Where Buyers Meet Growers' at The Federal Hotel, Alstonville from 6.30pm and
- March 10 - The Autumn Expo on 7am to 9.30am at Alstonville Showground.
Thanks Go Grow, Garden City Plastics and Coast Guard Netting for stepping up yet again to generously sponsor this event and to Gary and Margaret Urquhart for generously donating their time to cook breaky. Your support is always much appreciated.
