The nursery and garden industry has several accreditation and certification progams which, while aiming to reach these benchmark standards, help you to improve your business.
Accreditation and certification programs provide businesses with a benchmark to become recognised providers of a standardised level of quality. Businesses and business practices are independently assessed to ensure they meet the standards.
Accreditation and certification provides consumers and the industry with assurance that the business they are dealing with is committed to the highest quality business practices, consistency and reliability in delivering service, professional standards and dedication to continuous improvement.
The accreditation and certification programs are developed and supported by the nursery products levy and the Commonwealth Government via Horticulture Innovation Australia (HIA).
Australian Plant Production Standard (APPS)
The Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NIASA) is a national scheme for production nurseries (growers), growing media (potting mix) businesses and greenlife markets that operates according to a set of national best management practice guidelines.
It focuses on a wide range of issues within three main categories—crop hygiene, crop management practices and general site management.
Greenlife Industry Australia (GIA), in partnership with Hort Innovation Australia Ltd (HIAL), has developed a set of guidelines that provides a systematic approach for production nurseries and growing media manufacturers to assess their environmental and natural resource management responsibilities.
