NGINA appoints Business & Technical Support Officer

NGINA welcomes Craig Perring to the role of Business and Technical Support Officer (BTSO).

Craig has a passion for the industry and horticulture is his chosen career path. Craig holds a Bachelor of Horticultural Science with a marketing major from UWS Richmond (Hawkesbury Ag College).

To date, he has had a broad career in the industry with experience working both domestically and overseas, and has worked in many facets of the industry including communications, production, intellectual property, stakeholder engagement and marketing. Craig has previously been a member of the NGINA (and NGIA) and a levy payer!

Craig's previous roles have provided him with excellent grounding for the BTSO role. Apart from running his own landscape business and working at various farms in the Hawkesbury Region whilst studying, he spent five years working at AgriMedia, a company specialising in agricultural and horticultural communications.

After this role, Craig spent a brief stint working in the Union of Myanmar (ex Burma) helping to establish a production nursery and farm specialising in marketing and exporting fruits and vegetables to South East Asia.

Post Myanmar, Craig spent five years working with the Australian Nurserymen’s Fruit Improvement Company (and sister companies PlantNet and Horticulture Fresh Australia) focussing on commercialising new fruit varieties and new plant varieties into the retail nursery sector. IP Management, representing the company at various meetings and trade shows both in Australia and overseas were also important tasks of this diverse role.

Craig's last role within the horticultural sector was with Horticulture Innovation Australia (previously HAL). During this seven year tenure he was involved in marketing programs (including the 2020 Vision), relationship management, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, budget management and reporting at many levels from CEO to boards to government. He completed numerous educational and formal training programs whilst at Hort Innovation and had the opportunity experience working across many different industry sectors namely Nursery, Turf, Cut Flower, Macadamia, Avocado, Mushroom, Onion and Sweet Potato.

Craig looks forward to working directly within the nursery sector again and is particularly looking forward to meeting, working and supporting our members. If there is anything you need help with please do not hesitate to contact him and he vows that if he can’t help directly, he may know or will find someone who can.

He is also keen to meet with nurseries within NSW and ACT that are not currently members of the NGINA, and hopes that with the brand new team at NGINA, the Association can add value to your business and see them become, or return as member of the NGINA.

If you'd like to speak with Craig or would like to schedule a visit from him to your nursery please contact him on M: 0439 661 368 P: 02 9679 1472 E: craig.perring@ngina.com.au
