Our team at the Nursery & Garden Industry NSW & ACT Ltd (NGINA) is looking for a new Communications & Membership Officer to join us at our office based at Kenthurst.

As a thriving industry association, we pride ourselves in providing excellent service, support and advice to our members in a range of specialty areas to help them build stronger businesses. Our dedicated team works with garden nurseries, wholesalers, suppliers, government organisations, associated supporting businesses and more to help communicate and support their business and the industry.

We are seeking a passionate and self-motivated communications specialist to join our tight knit team on a permanent basis. This role includes two primary areas of responsibility.

Media & Communications

  • Head up and drive all aspects of the production of our quarterly industry magazine, including the gathering of content, coordinating advertising, writing, collating, through to print.
  • Write, gather contributors and populate our fortnightly e-newsletter.
  • Manage our website including updates, new members, news and events.
  • Look for opportunities within the media to promote our events, industry and members.
  • Drive and manage social media across platforms (primarily Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) including gathering of content and collaborating with industry stakeholders.

Internal Communications & Memberships

  • Process new membership applications.
  • Respond to member enquiries and general administration.
  • Manage internal CRM database.
  • Monitor sponsorship commitments.
  • Attend and assist with our monthly Trade Day (wholesale plant market for members only) at Hawkesbury Showground.

For success in this role we would love to see:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as communications and media.
  • Experience in magazine production or journalism (preferred).
  • Graphic design skills (basic minimum)
  • Experience in content development, and writing for internal and external communications.
  • Strong IT skills including knowledge of HTML and experience using CRM systems.
  • Experience managing social media platforms in previous roles (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter).
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with media preferred.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • A high degree of accuracy and tenacity to solve problems.
  • A passion for meeting and communicating with people.
  • Willingness to be part of a team.

We are able to offer some flexibility – either 4 or 5 days a week (depending on what you prefer). We are a dynamic, flexible team who are open to finding the right person for the job. Immediate start would be great, but not a deal breaker.
